By using laser equipment to precisely etch the medal's surface, crisp and detailed text-such as event names, years, serial numbers, or participant names-can be created. This process offers high precision and durability, ensuring the text does not easily wear off; it is frequently used for metal and commemorative medals.
Mold-Based Embossing/Debossing
This technique is primarily used during the die-casting or stamping process for metal medals. The text design is incorporated directly into the mold, allowing the text to be formed on the medal's surface during the shaping process. Text created this way has a three-dimensional quality and integrates seamlessly with the medal body, making it ideal for mass production.
Screen Printing and Pad Printing
These methods are suitable for medals requiring colored text or patterns. By applying ink to the medal's surface, a wide range of colors can be achieved; these techniques are commonly used for event logos, promotional text, and decorative elements. However, compared to engraving, these methods require greater care regarding surface protection.
Enamel/Paint Filling
This process is often combined with relief (raised) text. Paint is applied to recessed areas of the text, creating a distinct color contrast that makes the lettering stand out. This technique enhances visual impact and is commonly used for high-quality event medals and custom-made awards.
Some high-end event medals also utilize **chemical etching, CNC engraving, or 3D relief techniques** for lettering. These methods allow for the depiction of complex typographic structures and layered effects, imbuing the medals with greater artistic appeal and collectible value.
